Fat Freezing (Cryolipolysis)

Fat freezing (Cryolipolysis) is a natural, safe, non-invasive treatment, designed to permanently remove pockets of body fat.
Fat freezing is a safe way to permanently remove fat cells. Cryolipolysis works through the process of apoptosis – a genetically regulated process which gradually kills fat cells. In this process, the fat cells are damaged through cold (cryo) therapy, and are naturally metabolised through your system.
Unlike laser liposuction (which has almost no effect on destroying fat cells) or surgical liposuction, an extreme, inherently invasive procedure with surgical risk (including possible adhesions, prolonged downtime, potential scarring and post-operative pain), Cryolipolysis is a walk-in, walk-out treatment, with little to no downtime.

    WHAT IS FAT FREEZING OR CRYOLIPOLYSIS?

    Fat Freezing is the cooling of fat cells to induce fat cell death. The treatment is non-invasive, which means no needles, no bleeding, no anaesthesia. It is a very safe and effective way to remove fat cells permanently. These cells never return or regrow in this area.

     

    When fat cells are exposed to cold temperatures the cells die. This is known as apoptosis. Over time these cells are eliminated from the body naturally via the normal metabolism process.

    The treatment consists of a specific sized handle which is applied to the chosen area of tissue. The targeted tissue is then sucked into the handle and cold therapy is applied. Traditional cryolipolysis machines have two cooling plates (called peltiers) on the inside of the handle, which when applied, cool the tissue underneath.

    At out clinics we have the option of 2 systems, therefore offering you the best sized applicator for the area you want treated. Our 360° applicators cool the entire surface of the applicator head which therefore cools greater amounts of tissue providing  a larger area of cells cooled and a smoother result. This provides a better result than the more traditional double peltier (plate) applicators.

    HOW MANY FAT FREEZING TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

    To treat love handles / muffins tops, for example, you will need 2 applicators (one each side) to provide an even body sculpting result. For the abdomen, you may need 1, 2 or 4 applicators depending on the size and shape of your belly fat and the results you desire.

    Depending on the amount of fat, a repeat cycle can be applied to any area 30 days after the initial treatment, should you want a further reduction of fat in that area.

    We are able to freeze fat on inner thighs, outer thighs (saddlebags) bra area, (bra bulge), flanks, waist, hips, upper and lower abdomen, under arms, and back of thighs.

    HOW COOLTECH WORKS

    The Cooltech procedure targets and cools fat cells to temperatures that trigger fat cell apoptosis (fat cell death). This process is triggered by cooling fat cells, bringing about a sequence of events that leads to their destruction and elimination without affecting any of the other surrounding tissue.

    All of the handpieces work at a temperature between 3°C and –8°C. The difference is due to the temperatures required for various thicknesses of fat folds in different areas of the body.

    The Cooltech device allows two handpieces to be applied at the same time thereby optimising treatment times and saving you and your patients valuable time.

    FAST AND EFFECTIVE RESULTS

    After one treatment patients can expect to see 20% to 30% fat reduction in the treated area.

    Results can be seen in as little as
    15 days after the first treatment, with more dramatic results becoming visible after eight weeks.

    Patients usually see enough reduction in one area after one treatment, but if necessary repeat treatments can be done at three months with a maximum of three sessions in total per area.

    With Cooltech, there are no needles, incisions, downtime or garments. This easy and reliable treatment allows the patient to resume their everyday life immediately after.
