Platelet Rich Plasma

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections

This procedure has been used in other medical fields to promote healing such as is done in sports medicine. In cosmetic medicine PRP has been able to make use of your own natural healing cells to stimulate skin rejuvenation. We collect a small amount of your own blood from which we prepare the PRP sample. This is then used to be injected into you skin in the problem areas using a very fine needle. Procedure is done under topical anesthetic cream and completely sterile conditions.

    FAQ

    Most frequent questions and answers
    HOW DOES THE PROCEDURE WORK?

Blood is drawn from a vein in the patient’s arm into a syringe and is processed using a centrifuge machine. A local anesthetic is applied and a small amount of platelet-rich plasma is injected into the area. Slight discomfort may be experienced.

WHAT CAN THE PATIENT EXPECT AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

The platelet-rich plasma typically stimulates a series of biological responses, including inflammation, so the injection site may be swollen and painful for about 3 to 5 days.
